Mixed Signals

Yesterday was a pretty strange day, symptom-wise. I’ve been completely and totally exhausted the last three or four days, having a hard time even keeping my eyes open. Then yesterday, I started cramping, just like I would before my period comes. There was a bit of spotting, but nothing to write home about (or blog about, really). I just felt OFF, all day long.I figured my period was on its way.

So I did what any logical person would do. I peed on a stick. And, of course, as I expected, it was completely white. Not even a hint of a second line. I’m pretty sure I haven’t even ovulated yet – why on earth would I be pregnant?

And then I woke up this morning, exhausted again, but without any of the cramping or spotting or anything that I’d been experiencing.

Did I mention how much it drives me INSANE not to be charting this month? Hey body, what’s going on?! What’s your PROBLEM?

And my body told me exactly what its problem was. MY BODY NEEDED BROWNIES. So here you go.

Triple Chocolate Brownies

2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/3 cup butter
1 1/2 cup sugar
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 cup sugar
3 eggs
2 tsp vanilla
1 cup white chocolate chips
1 cup milk chocolate chips
In a microwave-safe bowl, melt together butter and semi-sweet chocolate chips. In the bowl of a mixer, beat together eggs, sugar and vanilla. Add chocolate mixture and mix well. Add dry ingredients, mix until well combined. Stir in chocolate chips. Pour mixture into a greased or lined 9×9 pan and bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. The brownies will fall and get crackly on top. Underbake them a little and serve warm with icecream, if you like really gooey brownies. Yum!

  1. I hear you. Every month I have so many “new and unusual for me” symptoms and the second I pee on a stick they disappear. It drives me nuts! Btw – brownies are looking delicious!
